Easy Access from the Bronx
Yonkers sits right on the Bronx border. If you're coming from the north Bronx or southern Westchester, it's one of the most convenient places to meet Leon for a lesson.
Yonkers is a city, not a suburb, and it feels that way. The streets are busier, the terrain has more hills, and there are more people around at any given time. That changes how Leon approaches lessons here. He sticks to the skatepark and the flatter park areas for instruction, but students who live in Yonkers and want to cruise their neighborhood will eventually need to deal with steeper grades and rougher pavement. Leon works that into the plan once the fundamentals are solid.
The Yonkers Skateparknear the Beczak center sits right on the Hudson River waterfront. It’s not huge, but it has enough variety — a few ramps, some ledges, a flat section — that Leon can take a student from their first time dropping in to working on grinds without changing locations. And because Yonkers is directly across the border from the Bronx, Leon gets a lot of students who live in neighborhoods like Riverdale or Woodlawn and just cross over for a lesson.

Yonkers Skatepark (Beczak)
Located near the Beczak Environmental Center along the waterfront. The park has ramps, ledges, and flat sections. Leon uses it for students who want to practice tricks and transitions, and the flat area works for beginners too.
Tibbetts Brook Park
A large park with paved paths and open areas. Leon teaches here when students want a flat, spacious surface for learning to push, turn, and cruise without distractions.
Untermyer Park Area
Paved areas near the park entrance with room to spread out. A good option for students who want a quieter setting, especially younger kids or adults picking up skating for the first time.
What to Expect
Yonkers is one of the few towns where Leon can take a lesson to a real skatepark. If you’re ready for ramps and ledges, the Beczak skatepark is the spot. If you’re just getting started, he’ll meet you at Tibbetts Brook or Untermyer where the ground is flat and there’s room to learn without pressure. Not sure what age your kid should start? Lessons run about an hour. Leon brings a board if you need one, and he’ll match the terrain to your skill level—no one gets dropped into the skatepark bowl on day one. Wear flat-soled sneakers and clothes you can move in freely. Helmets are required for all students under 18.
