Upper East Side

Skateboard Lessons on the Upper East Side

Private instruction at Central Park and neighborhood spots on the UES. Leon comes to you.

Why Learn on the Upper East Side

Central Park at Your Doorstep

The east side of Central Park has wide, smooth pathways and quiet stretches that are ideal for learning. Leon uses the park's open areas around 72nd to 90th Street for lessons, away from the busiest pedestrian traffic.

Calm, Focused Sessions

The UES is quieter than downtown skateparks. That works well for kids and adults who'd rather not learn in the middle of a packed skate spot.

Where Lessons Happen

Leon teaches at open spaces in and around the Upper East Side. Here are common meeting spots.

Central Park (East Side Paths)

Wide, paved paths near the 72nd, 79th, and 90th Street entrances. Flat ground with room to spread out. Leon often meets students near the Bethesda Terrace area or the quieter stretches north of the Met.

East River Esplanade

A long, flat waterfront path along the East River. Leon uses it for cruising practice because there's less foot traffic than Central Park, especially on weekday mornings.

Carl Schurz Park Area

Open pavement near the park entrance at 86th and East End Avenue. A neighborhood spot with a relaxed feel, especially for younger students who want a low-key setting.

What to Expect

First thing Leon does is ask what you’re hoping to get out of the session. For first-timers, that means stance, balance, and learning to push. For returning skaters, it could be anything from turning technique to building speed.

Lessons are about an hour. Leon brings boards and helmets. Wear flat-soled sneakers and clothes you can move in. Helmets are required for students under 18.
