About Leon
Leon Toppin is a New York–based skateboarder, instructor, and performer who teaches skateboarding as a path to resilience, creativity, and self-discovery.
Growing up inspired by legends like Tony Hawk, Kareem Campbell, and Chad Muska, Leon fell in love with skate culture early—not just the tricks, but the feeling. The freedom of rolling through the city on a piece of wood. The rush of committing to something that scared you. The bonds forged through shared obsession and shared pavement.
For Leon, skateboarding is more than a sport. It is one of the last truly analog art forms—a discipline that demands balance, courage, persistence, and imagination in a world increasingly shaped by screens and algorithms. It cannot be simulated. It has to be lived.
Through a teaching style built on patience, strategy, and genuine encouragement, Leon helps students of all ages and skill levels unlock the confidence and joy that comes from learning to move through the world on a skateboard. Whether you’re stepping on a board for the first time, returning to skating after years away, or looking to push past a plateau, Leon meets you exactly where you are and builds from there.
Beyond lessons, Leon works with filmmakers, brands, and creative teams seeking authentic skate culture—as a performer, consultant, and on-screen talent.
His mission is simple: to build a more welcoming skate community where people of every background and skill level can learn, grow, connect, and experience the empowerment that skateboarding creates.
