Greenwich Skatepark
Located near the Byram area, this is the go-to spot for most lessons. The park has a good mix of ramps, ledges, and flat sections that let Leon tailor each session to the student’s level. Beginners start on the flat ground and work up to features as they’re ready. The park sees steady use but rarely feels overcrowded, especially on weekday mornings.
Cos Cob Park Area
Paved paths and open areas near Cos Cob Park work well for students who need flat, smooth ground before trying a skatepark. Good for younger kids building confidence with pushing, turning, and stopping in a low-pressure setting.
Your Driveway or Neighborhood
If you have a flat, smooth driveway or a quiet cul-de-sac, Leon can come to you. Some families prefer starting at home, especially with younger children who are more relaxed on their own turf before venturing to the park.
What to Expect
Greenwich has two things going for it when it comes to skateboarding: a skatepark and some of the longest, smoothest driveways in the area. Leon travels to wherever works for you. A lot of beginners start in their own driveway — plenty of room, no distractions — and move to the Greenwich Skatepark or Cos Cob Park area as they progress. Every session begins with your goals. Never stepped on a board? You’ll learn stance, balance, and how to push. Been skating a while? Leon picks up right where your last session ended.
Plan for about an hour per lesson. Own board is preferred, but Leon can bring one. Flat-soled sneakers and comfortable clothes are all you need. Helmets are required for students under 18.
