A Village Built for Families
Briarcliff Manor has the kind of tree-lined streets, low traffic, and neighborhood feel that make it a good spot for learning to skateboard. Leon uses the flat areas around Law Memorial Park and residential sidewalks, matching the terrain to what students are ready for.
Briarcliff Manor is a small village along the Hudson River in the Ossining area, known for its strong school district and outdoor-oriented community. Families here are active — youth sports, hiking, Club Fit Briarcliff, summer camps. But skateboarding hasn’t had a local option until now. There’s no skatepark, no rec department skate program, and no instructor based in the area.
Leon fills that gap. He meets students at Law Memorial Park, on flat sidewalks near the village center, or at another spot that works for the family. Beginners start with stance and balance on flat ground. Once they’re comfortable pushing and turning, Leon introduces different surfaces and gentle slopes. Students who are ready for ramps head to one of the nearby skateparks in Ossining or Croton-on-Hudson.

Briarcliff's wide, well-maintained sidewalks and low-traffic streets are good for real-world skating practice. Once students have their balance, Leon moves to these surfaces to build cruising confidence and board control.

When students are ready for ramps and transitions, Leon takes them to the skateparks in Ossining or Croton-on-Hudson. These parks have a mix of features that work for intermediate and advanced students.
What to Expect
Leon comes to you. Lessons happen at a park or on a quiet street near your home in Briarcliff Manor. New skaters learn stance, how to push, and how to stop safely. Students who already ride keep building — turns, manuals, kick turns, or getting comfortable on different terrain.
Sessions last about an hour. Leon can provide a board if your child doesn’t have one yet, but having their own to practice with between sessions is encouraged.
